About me
The last fifteen years as a singer/songwriter, comedian, poet and tree impressionist have established Rory Motion as one of the most popular and innovative performers on the national circuit. Born in 1956, the son of a simple Yorkshire sales executive, Rory has delighted both natives and foreigners alike with his deceptively laid-back style, keen intelligence and quirky wit.
Time Out have described Rory as "a post-Hippie comic"-which is how Rory describes Time Out. The subject matter of his songs, poems and patter take in Vegans, Ley Lines, Football, Sex, Glastonbury, William Blake, Barleycup, Lentils and Death. One of Rory's most famous musical trademarks is his ability to accompany himself on xylophone, whilst playing guitar and harmonica, by means of a strange percussive attachment to his head. In his French-speaking persona Raymond Bizarre Rory enjoyed a network radio hit in France with his epic homage to Eric Cantona. A triumphant accolade for the Englishman abroad, the disc was played before international matches at the Parc de Princes on several occasions.
In his life-size step-through white horse, Eric, Rory has taken part in eco-protests, sung songs on T.V., gone into schools and even taken part in a horse show.
But it as a comedian that Rory Motion is most. widely known.A familiar voice on national radio and naff local T.V. he is equally at home performing at an anarchist benefit as he is delivering an after-dinner speech for Rotarians.
Rory's first book, 'Neither is the Horse', was published in November by Cassell
